Arc ejection from the DC-side circuit breaker induces a secondary short circuit in the DC system. Since the service life of the AC circuit breaker is insufficient, an AC contactor has to be added, which increases the system cost.

Value of the Solution

DC safety critical load current enables remote operation of the DC-side breaker, with an emergency tripping time as fast as 200 ms. The AC circuit breaker also serves as a grid-connection control switch, simplifying the design of grid-connection components and reducing system costs.
